Industry Veteran Charles Blier Joins Year-Round Poconos Resort

TANNERSVILLE, Penn. – Camelback Resort, a year-round recreational destination nestled in the Pocono Mountains, has announced the addition of Charles Blier as its new vice president of facilities.

According to David Makarsky, managing director of Camelback Resort, Blier will take charge of all facilities and equipment management at Camelback – a 560-acre, year-round mountain resort – including ski lift operations and maintenance. “We are thrilled to have Charles join our team as we work to improve and expand the multiple seasonal adventure experiences at our growing resort,” Makarsky said. “With decades of experience, he has an extensive background in all facets of the hospitality industry and knows our resort well. He was chief operating officer of Camelback for nine years starting in 2009, and under his skilled leadership our resort grew exponentially into the popular year-round adventure destination it is today.”

In his new position Blier will apply his significant expertise to the oversight of facilities and equipment for Camelback’s extensive skiing, snowboarding and snowtubing operations as well as Camelbeach Outdoor Waterpark, Pennsylvania’s biggest outdoor waterpark.

He is well equipped to take on his new responsibilities. Prior to rejoining Camelback, Blier was vice president of planning and business development at PNP Supply LLC, a provider of high-end snowmaking infrastructure solutions to North American resorts. He also ran his own consulting firm and wasvice president of sales, North America for Prinoth, a global leader in alpine snow grooming equipment. A vice president and general manager of MountainCreek Resort in Vernon, N.J., for seven years, hewas a senior executive with Intrawest – a leader in the development and operation of four-season mountain, beach and golf resorts – for 15 years, with successful assignments at Mont Tremblant and Mont Ste Marie in Quebec and Mountain Creek, N.J.

A member of the National Ski Areas Association’s governmental affairs and environmental affairs committees, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from the General Motors Institute in Flint, Mich., and an M.B.A. from Quebec’s McGill University.
