April 1, 2015

TANNERSVILLE, Pa. – Perched in the picturesque Pocono Mountains inside the new Camelback Lodge & Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark at Camelback Resort is the new Serenity Spa, providing respite, relaxation and a view like no other. Open to Camelback Resort guests and the general public, Serenity Spa welcomes adults to signature relaxation treatments while Oasis Kids Spa, separately located and created exclusively for younger guests, provides fun, instills laughter and offers special services that kids love.

Serenity Spa and Fitness Centre

Following an invigorating day of adventure, the 9,000 square-foot Serenity Spa, designed by ADCI, greets adults to a mountainside sanctuary to relax and unwind. Camelback Resort guests can recharge after completing the tree tops course or zip lining at Camelback Mountain Adventures, hiking through Big Pocono State Park, or skiing, snowboarding and snowtubing in winter; Camelback Lodge guests can steal an hour or two of quiet restful time during their vacation getaway; and the greater Pocono Mountain community can treat or be treated to a little pampering in a breathtaking location just a short drive from home.

“The mountain setting puts Serenity Spa in a class of it’s own,” said Christina Wells, spa manager. “Imagine enjoying a pedicure with a view of the mountain’s fall foliage, watching your family ski from the manicure throne, or a massage break after a day with your family in the waterpark. There is nothing like it anywhere in the Northeast.”

Nine treatment rooms include two facial/esthetic treatment rooms, named Matterhorn and Mauna Kea, six private massage rooms named Mount Fuji, Mount Kinabalu, Mount Kilimanjaro, Mont Blanc, Mount McKinley and Mount Cook, and a couples massage room named Mount Everest. A variety of customizable services include different massage styles and techniques, body wraps, salt or sugar scrubs, peels and wax services. Four pedicure thrones and four manicure stations overlook the mountain, and can be further enjoyed with a glass of wine or champagne.

Licensed massage therapists, estheticians and nail technicians use three award-winning skin care lines:  Eminence Organic Skin Care of Hungary for facials, Nufree for waxing and FarmHouse Fresh Goods for body treatments, manicures and pedicures. Most treatment products are 99% natural and organic, vegan and free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates and gluten. Serenity Spa also offers a range of skin and body care products for purchase as well as fitness apparel.

Serenity Spa is open Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. An adjoining fitness centre is accessible with guest room keys from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily.

Oasis Kids Spa

Decorated in a unique and fun Moroccan style, Oasis Kids Spa services include pedicures, manicures and facials for kids age four and up. The Chocolate Green Tea Facial begins with a cleanse and a masque followed by a moisturizing treatment and finished with a makeup application. During facials, estheticians will talk about the importance of proper skincare. Nail art, glitter and scented lotions are sure to become a signature favorite of kids. All of the products used are natural and paraben-free. FarmHouse Fresh Goods is the line used for nails and facials. Included in their service, kids will receive a voucher to the on-site Sweet Discovery frozen yogurt shop for a sweet treat afterwards.

Birthday girls celebrating at Oasis Kids Spa will receive a princess tiara, sash, wand and jewelry. The exclusive Mother & Daughter Package provides special bonding time during their manicure and pedicure services. A Head to Toe Package offers a facial, manicure and pedicure while the Enchanted Princess Package takes things up a notch with a facial, pedicure, lip gloss, princess tiara and nail polish.

Camelback Resort and Camelbeach Waterpark co-owners Arthur Berry III and Aquatic Development Group CEO Ken Ellis first met on the Saratoga, New York campus of Skidmore College in 1982. Through their friendship and common vision to bring fun to their family and friends, they purchased Camelback Resort in June 2005. Located in the Pocono Mountains, with close proximity to New York City, Philadelphia and metro markets, Camelback Resort is nationally known in the ski industry for converting new skiers and snowboarders in the Northeast to lifetime snowsports enthusiasts. Berry and Ellis have built on the rich history of Camelback Resort by: expanding operations to offer world-recognized terrain-based ski learning programs, winning the coveted Conversion Cup in 2014 from the National Ski Area Association; expanding the snowtubing park to be the largest in the country; adding new attractions at Camelbeach Waterpark, the largest outdoor waterpark in Pennsylvania; and developing Camelback Mountain Adventures, with zip-lines, Segway tours, multiple tree-tops ropes courses and a Mountain Coaster. On May 1, 2015, after nearly two years of construction, Berry and Ellis opened the doors to Camelback Lodge & Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark, offering a mountain-based indoor waterpark hotel and changing Camelback Resort from a seasonal day trip, to an overnight, year-round destination. The $163 million Camelback Lodge & Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark is the largest single expenditure in the 52-year history of Camelback Resort and the largest national ski resort improvement in 2015.

Camelback Lodge & Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark was built in partnership and is co-managed by Stand Rock Hospitality. Comprised of four partners with a long legacy in the indoor and outdoor waterpark and entertainment industry, Pete Helland Jr., Pat Helland, Tim Lucke and Tim Gantz, and are no strangers to grand-scale waterpark resorts. Hailing from Wisconsin Dells, Wis., the “Waterpark Capital of the World,” each partner brings substantial experience, among them the former owner and operator of America’s Largest Outdoor Waterpark, Noah’s Ark. More recently, Stand Rock Hospitality developed and manages the 716 keyWilderness at the Smokies Resort in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and helped develop and is co-owner of the largest indoor waterpark resort property in the U.S., Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells.
