Snow Season Begins with Snowtubing then Skiing Complete with New Food Trucks, New Sunbowl Lift and New Ski & Ride Academy

TANNERSVILLE, Penn. (October 21, 2020) – Nestled in the spectacularly scenic Pocono Mountains, Camelback Resort will launch its winter season Thanksgiving weekend with new and traditional snow activities along with suite accommodations at Camelback Lodge, the only ski-in/ski-out resort in the Poconos. For snow enthusiasts, boarders and avid skiers of all levels, Camelback Mountain is a playland for locals and destination fun-seekers and only 90 minutes from New York City and two hours from Philadelphia.

“We are very excited about this year’s winter season,” said Shawn Hauver, managing director of the 560-acre resort. “We have so many new elements from exciting dining concepts like Bavarian-style food and fun food trucks to enhanced ski instruction and a new ski lift – all while keeping up with the very important COVID-19 safety guidelines.”

Camelback’s Snowtubing Park Slated to Open Friday, November 27

The biggest snowtubing park in the U.S. features all-lit nighttime Galactic tubing complete with music and disco lighting, up to 42 lightning fast lanes and two magic carpet lifts. New features include a soup and sandwich-themed food truck hitched to a Tap Bar draft beverage trailer to be enjoyed around fire pits for spectating or warming up pre or post tubing. Offerings include hot roast pork and prime dip sandwiches, bread bowl chili and chowder, beers and wines on tap, spiked hot cider, mixed cocktails and specialty coffee drinks.

Snowtubing starts at $33 midweek; $42 weekends (two-hour session).

New Sunbowl Lift and Tacos & Beers Truck

Ski trails will open with a good snowfall, and new this year is the quad Sunbowl Lift to zoom skiers and snowboarders across the mountain to Camelback Mountain Village where guests can enjoy various experiences, including a new Tacos & Beers truck for street tacos and draft beers.

Adding to its collection of over 1,200 snowmaking guns, Camelback has added 377 new HKD snow guns. Ski slopes cover 166 acres – highlighted by 39 named trails with beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert trail classifications – the longest run being one mile. All the action can be viewed on live resort webcams, and trail and conditions are updated on SkiCamelback.com.

Ski lift tickets start at $60 midweek; $78 weekends (reduced pricing for youth and seniors).

New Camelback Ski & Ride Academy

Renowned for its excellent ski and snowboard instruction, Camelback Resort introduces a new, enhanced Ski & Ride Academy with the tagline “Learn Here. Learn Right.” for enthusiasts of all ages. The Academy has dedicated locations for each of its three instructional programs (SnowClub, SnowPro Group and SnowPro Private), rentals, ticketing area and drop off to minimize contact. The all-new SnowClub offers half- and full-day sessions to children with professional instructors presenting the basics in a fun, attention-getting, kid-friendly manner. SnowPro Group is where families, groups of friends or other skiers can join a group to “learn right” from the start or refresh their skills. SnowPro Private offers one-on-one lessons curated to suit skiers of all levels.

90-minute package lessons start at $100 midweek and $129 weekends; 90-minute private lessons start at $145.

Ski-in/Ski-out at Camelback Lodge

The only ski-in/ski-out resort in the Poconos, Camelback Lodge offers 453 luxury guest suites with 16 layouts to suit couples, families and groups, along with an array of dining choices (including ski-in/ski-out restaurants), USA Today’s #1 waterpark Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark, the much-loved Arcadia Adventures, Serenity Spa and seasonal and souvenir shopping.

Ski-in/Ski-out Summit House Restaurant & Beer Garden

Exclusively for Camelback Resort’s skiers and snowboarders, Summit House is a ski-in/ski-out restaurant offering panoramic views from the crown of Camelback Mountain in Big Pocono State Park. Guests can dine physically distanced indoor or outdoor in a tented beer garden and feast on German-style bratwurst and sausages with beer cheese, sauerkraut and German mustard, potato leek soup, borscht and Bavarian-style hot pretzels, along with a variety of German beers.

COVID-19 protocols: To provide an exclusive, safe and crowd-free experience, all snow adventure seekers will need to reserve their mountain activity times by purchasing advanced lift tickets and passes online or via the resort’s app. Ski rentals and signed waivers will need to be completed online to minimize contact. Facial coverings will be required in all public spaces, including rental shops, while queuing for, loading and riding lifts. Parties traveling together will need to ride together; singles will need to ride alone. Sanitizing stations will be present at the top and bottom of each lift.
